When traveling, the most memorable experiences come from fully immersing yourself in the culture and daily life of your destination. Whether it’s through what you eat, what you see, or where you stay, the best trips are those that take visitors to places that speak to the heart of the city they’re exploring. Silent Living focuses on the latter experience, creating idyllic accommodations that have guests feeling at home the moment they arrive. Combining impeccable architecture with swoon-worthy landscapes, the company specializes in creating one-of-a-kind stays that celebrate the rich culture of the city the home resides in.
Santa Clara 1728 is one of those swoon-worthy homes. Like all of Silent Living’s properties, the residence started off as their own family home and now serves as the “home away from home” for all guests who stay there. Surrounded by grand monuments and palaces, Santa Clara 1728 captures the natural beauty of Lisbon, located in the old cultural quarter of the city. The 18th-century building is situated on one of the city’s most romantic squares, with unbeatable views of the park and river just steps away. Manuel Aires Mateus led the renovation project, taking careful note of the original heritage of the building and incorporating those same elements of serenity and comfort throughout the new design. With an impressive exterior, the family-run company ensured the interiors were just as mesmerizing. Light is key here, with the home’s natural intimacy achieved through tall windows that shower in bright sunshine and delicate decor that ties the space together. Within the property is a secluded garden, encouraging moments of relaxation and reconnecting with friends or family.
Home is where the heart is. And for Silent Living, their heart beats boldly at the Santa Clara Family House. With a sincere emphasis placed on connection, the residence lives and breathes with each group that calls this place home. Whether a busy day of exploration or a slow-paced afternoon is in the books, Santa Clara 1728 is the perfect remedy, with a thoughtful design that encourages communal connection round every corner. The home offers six suites with two unique layout designs (Suite Santa Clara: 70 square meters with river views, a wide sitting room and a bath overlooking the garden. Suite Tejo: 50 square meters with a sitting area and bathroom). Depending on your party’s size, you can either choose to rent out the whole home or book a separate suite and share the space with fellow travelers. Whichever you choose, it’s impossible not to feel the genuine ease that comes from setting your bags down, connecting with friends, and feeling at home.
