If timelessness and serenity could always share a space, they would continuously be found within the interiors of Guillaume Alan. The conceptual architecture design studio is known for its personification of French beauty, classic lines, modern silhouettes, and just a touch of minimalism to keep everything understated. His last work, the Kennedy Residence in Paris, showcased a monochromatic, minimalist sanctuary, while his latest project, Victor Hugo, Paris, captures a balance between his luxurious purity and a shared passion for Asian design.

Found in the 16th district in Paris, this two-story apartment is open to the city with 360-degree views and an opening onto rooftop gardens. The desired tone is a haven of peace, a sanctuary and quiet reprieve at the heart of a vibrating city. Alan, who founded his first design studio almost 20 years ago, is known for his beautiful interiors found through restraint and harmony of design and aesthetic, an expertise he practices here with his reimagining of French classicism and modern simplicity.

Working in co-operation with his design partner Emilie Le Corre, the interior here is monochromatic with shades of light grey and textures of oak wood, natural linen, leather, silk, wool, and bronze. The grandiose space was made to follow the light and the sun during the day, and he expounds upon that space by using similar tones and shades across the apartment. It not only creates the illusion of more space but also to allows for more depth, texture, and warmth to be added to each room without the need for dramatic color or a focal feature. Each room feels as if it is part of the whole, rather than a statement within itself.

The furniture within is, of course, all designed by Alan, who signed every piece with his name for added specialty and a personal trademark within the home. The pieces are subtle and understated, based on restrained luxury and a balance between raw and refined materials. This subtle contrast and balance is noted as a symbol of Guillaume Alan’s design and showcases his work through this Parisian home as an exercise in tactile beauty and unrestrained timelessness.
