Despite the global pandemic, creativity has not stopped. It cannot be canceled or put on pause because, for some, artistry is an ever-growing, ever-evolving expression of self. To those looking for an outlet for their work, Movimento, a young design gallery based in London, is the perfect place to display their art. The gallery opened last March at the start of the pandemic, and over the last year, has been supporting and highlighting young designers worldwide, exclusively selling their products online on the platform.
While they’ve done several exhibitions during the pandemic—’’THE LOST PLACE GALLERY’’, ‘‘Movimento & Dao Archviz x Dutch Design Week’’, and ‘‘Movimento & ANOTHER_A_R_T_I_S_T x Milano Design City’’—we’re happy to announce that we’ve collaborated with Movimento on their latest visual/digital exhibition. Together with VISUAL PLEASURE Magazine, Movimento has co-curated a visual tribute to Milan Design Week called ‘‘Omaggio’’. It includes a global selection of pieces from Movimento Club members with interior styling by Bruno Tarsia and 3D visualization by Rolig Design.
In the exhibit, discover pieces from global artists ranging from Mexico City to Seoul, all with a sculptural aesthetic and modern sense. Furniture pieces including the Disrupt Coffee Tables by Fractall, the Crossroads Table by Danielle Brustman, the BRVTVS coffee table by Antipop, the Morpheus Table and Stool by Studio Maertens, the CHROMA room divider by Montserrat Benetts, the X4 Chair by Studio Verbaan, Time of Action by Chaeyoung Lee , and the Tighten Table by Nebbia Works are all on display. It’s pulled together with cultural decor like Non-existent existence by Jinya Zhao, while lighting artistry comes from Cream Light by LLOTLLOV and a Miami Table Light by Brajak Vitberg.
These artworks are highlighted across an imaginative scenery, designed by Bruno Tarsia. While we chose colorful work with some more neutral and black pieces, the architectural elements and texture allow each piece to stand out against the backdrop. The play with light and shadow, structure, and dreamy landscapes of dunes and still skies, is not only an artistic landscape for these displayed pieces, but a creative composition in and of itself.
As Milan Design Week won’t occur this month as scheduled due to the pandemic, VISUAL PLEASURE Magazine and Movimento are bringing art to those who need it. Whether a visual and emotional escape from the stress of the pandemic, or an answer to a need for something new and creative, the digital exhibition is a triumph of design, color, and concept.
